Jang Hye-ock

Jang Hye-ock ( Korean 장혜옥 ; born February 9, 1977 ) is a former badminton player from South Korea .

Athletic career

Jang Hye-ock won gold in women's doubles at the 1995 World Championships together with her partner Gil Young-ah . At 18 years and three months, she is the youngest player to date to have won a badminton world championship title. In 1994 she was already successful in doubles with Shim Eun-jung at the Asian Games . At the 1996 Olympics, she took silver with Gil Young-ah. She also won the All England , Japan Open and the Swedish Open .
