Ade Chandra (born February 4, 1950 in Jakarta , formerly Zhang Xing Yen and Thio Kim Gwan ) is a former Indonesian badminton player . He was one of the most important doubles players in the sport in the 1970s.

Career

In 1974 Chandra took second place at the Asian Games with Christian Hadinata in men's doubles, four years later he won gold with Tjun Tjun . In 1972 and 1973 he won the All England , the then unofficial world championships , also in doubles with Christian Hadinata.

In 1973 and 1976 he won the Thomas Cup with the Indonesian team . At the 1972 Olympics, where badminton was played as a demonstration sport, he won the final with Christian Hadinata against Ng Boon Bee and Punch Gunalan in three sets. In 1977 he was runner-up with Hadinata at the 1st Badminton World Cup, behind fellow countrymen Tjun Tjun and Johan Wahjudi . At the 1980 World Cup, he made it to the top of the podium.
