Datuk Punch Gunalan Panchacharan (born April 2, 1944 in Sepang , † August 15, 2012 in Petaling Jaya ) was a badminton player from Malaysia .

Career

Punch Gunalan was a pronounced doubles specialist, but could also show success in singles. He won the Dutch Open , the German Open , the Asian Games , the Asian Championship , the Belgian International , the Denmark Open and the Canada Open , among others . He was also the national coach for the Malaysia team. After his active career, he began a career as a functionary and, as BWF Vice President, became one of the most powerful men in badminton worldwide.
