Li Xuerui ( Chinese 李雪 芮 , Pinyin Lĭ Xuĕruì , born January 24, 1991 in Chongqing , People's Republic of China ) is a Chinese badminton player .
Career
Li Xuerui recorded as her greatest success winning the gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London in women's singles. She had previously won gold at the 2008 Asian Junior Championships . In the same year she also secured the team title at the Junior World Championship . By winning the All England Open 2012 , she achieved her first victory in a tournament in the BWF Super Series , seven weeks later she achieved this again by defeating the German Juliane Schenk in the final of the India Open 2012 . At the Asian Championships in 2010 and 2012 , she won gold. In 2012 she also won the German Open (Badminton) , the China Open Super Series and the Hong Kong Super Series as well as the final of the BWF Super Series final against Wang Shixian . In 2013 she reached the final of the Asian Championships , which was won by Wang Yihan . She was also a member of the Chinese team that successfully defended the Sudirman Cup . On June 16, she won the Indonesia Super Series against Juliane Schenk.
