Chen Jin ( Chinese  陈金 , Pinyin Chén Jīn ; born January 10, 1986 in Handan , Hebei , People's Republic of China ) is a former Chinese badminton player and world champion .

Athletic career

Chen's greatest achievement was winning the 2010 World Championships in Paris . In the men's singles final, he defeated the Indonesian Olympic and world champion Taufik Hidayat with 21:13, 21:15.

In 2008 , Chen won the All England , beating defending champion and reigning world champion Lin Dan with 22:20, 25:23.

At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , Chen made it to the semi-finals, but then lost to the later Olympic champion Lin Dan with 12:21, 18:21. In the bronze medal he beat South Korean Lee Hyun-il with 21:16, 12:21, 21:14 and won his first and only Olympic medal.

Overall, Chen was nine times in the finals of a Superseries tournament , of which he was able to win five tournaments.
