Yang Yang ( Chinese  杨阳 ; born December 9, 1963 in Nanjing ) is a former badminton player from the People's Republic of China .

Career

Yang Yang was one of the most successful badminton players of the 1980s. He became world champion in men's singles in 1987 and 1989. In 1985 he had already won bronze in the same discipline. With the Chinese men's team, he won the team world title in 1986, 1988 and 1990. He won gold at the 1988 Summer Olympics, where badminton was a demonstration sport in the program. The 1992 Olympics, where badminton was officially part of the program for the first time, came too late for one of the greatest badminton players of all time. Yang Yang was trained by Tang Xuehua , among others .

Yang Yang now runs a sporting goods company.
