Rudy Hartono
Rudy Hartono Kurniawan (born August 18, 1949 in Surabaya , formerly Nio Hap Liang or Liang Hailiang ) is a former Indonesian badminton player . Utami Dewi is his sister. Rudy Hartonos and Christian Hadinata's wives, Yoke Anwar and Jane Anwar, are sisters. Zulkarnain Kurniawan was his father.
Career
Rudy Hartono was one of the most prominent players in this sport in the 1970s and 1980s. Hartono is the record individual title holder of the All England , the then unofficial world championships . He won eight of ten finals, only losing to Svend Pri in 1975 and Liem Swie King in 1978 .
In 1967, 1970, 1973, 1976 and 1979 he won the Thomas Cup with the Indonesian team, and in 1982 he finished second with the team. At the 1972 Olympics, where badminton was played as a demonstration sport, he won the final against long-term rivals Svend Pri . As the highlight of his career, he won the men's singles world title in 1980.
