Tan Joe Hok

Tan Joe Hok (born August 11, 1937 in Bandung , also known as Hendra Kartanegara ) is a former Indonesian badminton player .

Career

Hok was a member of the Indonesian Thomas Cup team in 1958, 1961 and 1964 , which won this world championship for men's teams three times in a row in the years mentioned. In 1959 and 1960 he won the Canada Open and the US Open in men's singles. Tan Joe Hok celebrated his greatest success in the individual disciplines in 1959 also in the men's singles when he won the prestigious All England . In 1963 he lost the double finals in the All England with Ferry Sonneville against Finn Kobberø and Jørgen Hammergaard Hansen . At the Asian Games in 1962, he again won gold in the men's singles. It was enough to win silver in the men's doubles with Liem Tjeng Kiang at the same event. In 1967 he celebrated his last big tournament victory in mixed with Retno Koestijah at the Malaysian Open .
