World Badminton Grand Prix

The World Badminton Grand Prix was a series of tournaments in badminton . From 1983 to 2006, the highest-ranking badminton tournaments, synonymous with the tournaments with the most prize money, were united in it. From 1983 to 2000, a World Badminton Grand Prix final was held at the end of the season . The first Grand Prix consisted of nine tournaments. In 1985, main sponsor Pro Kennex decided to increase the number of tournaments to 15. Depending on the prize money paid out, the tournaments were again divided into five categories, with a five-star tournament paying out the most prize money and a one-star tournament the least. From 2007 the highest tournament series in badminton was renamed BWF Super Series , while the BWF Grand Prix represents the second highest tournament series category.
