Ronald Susilo

Ronald Susilo (born June 6, 1979 in Kediri , Indonesia ) is a Singaporean badminton player .

Career

Ronald Susilo began the sport of badminton at the age of eight at the Pelita Jaya Club in Jakarta. He later studied at the Anglo-Chinese School for secondary education with a scholarship. He speaks English and Malay and understands spoken Chinese. At the age of 19 he became a Singapore national player. He was the national flag bearer of Singapore at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Summer Olympics . He married Li Jia Wei , a Singaporean national table tennis player .

Susilo played badminton at the 2004 Olympics in the men's singles and beat the number one seed Lin Dan from China and Björn Joppien from Germany in the first two rounds. In the quarterfinals, Susilo lost to Boonsak Ponsana from Thailand with 15:10, 15: 1.
