Bang Soo-hyun ( Korean 방수현 ; born September 13, 1972 ) is a former badminton player from South Korea .

Career

Bang Soo-hyun won the singles tournament of the Asian Games in 1992. At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona , she moved into the final of the singles tournament. In the semifinals, Bang defeated the Chinese Huang Hua 11: 3 and 11: 2. In the final she met Susi Susanti , lost with 11: 5, 5:11 and 3:11 and thus won the silver medal. In 1993 Bang Soo-hyun won silver in the individual tournament of the world championships , in 1995 bronze. At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta , she defeated Susi Suranti in the semi-finals 11: 9 and 11: 8. In the final she met Mia Audina and won the gold medal with 11: 6 and 11: 7.

After retiring in 1996, Bang Soo-hyun worked as a trainer for the South Korean Badminton Association between 2000 and 2002.
