Xie Xingfang ( Chinese  謝杏芳  /  谢杏芳 , Pinyin Xiè Xìngfāng ; born January 8, 1981 in Guangzhou , People's Republic of China ) is a former Chinese badminton player .

Career

Her first big title was winning the women's doubles competition at the Junior World Championship in 1998 with Zhang Jiewen . After she was on the Chinese national team, she became a single player. Here she is the link between the generation of players like Gong Ruina , Zhou Mi and Zhang Ning on the one hand and such great talents as e. B. Wang Lin , who won the China Open when she was 17 .

At the badminton tournament at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , in which Xie Xingfang is placed in first place, she started with a bye in the first round. The first game against Cheng Shao-Chieh from Taiwan ended with a two-set win for Xie Xingfang. In the round of 16 it went against the Belarusian Olga Konon , who was defeated again with 2-0 sets. In the quarterfinals, Xie Xingfang played 21:19 and 22:20 against Xu Huaiwen, who started for Germany . She was only defeated in the final on August 16, 2008 in three sets (12:21, 21:10, 18:21) against Zhang Ning , who was able to repeat her success from Athens .

family

On December 13, 2010, Xie Xingfang got engaged to her long-time partner, the two-time Olympic champion in men's singles in badminton, Lin Dan . The wedding took place in 2012. In November 2016, the two parents became one son.
