Maria Kristin Yulianti (born June 25, 1985 in Tuban , East Java ) is an Indonesian badminton player .

Maria Kristin Yulianti has been one of the extended world leaders in badminton since 2005. The southpaw celebrated her first notable successes in the BWF Grand Prix series. In 2005 she was third at the New Zealand Open , in 2006 second at the Bitburger Open and in 2008 at the Djarum Indonesia Open , both in singles. At the 2007 World Championships in Kuala Lumpur , Yulianti reached the round of 16. Other good placements were second place at the Sudirman Cup in Glasgow in 2007 and second place at the Thomas & Uber Cup in Jakarta in 2008 , both times in the team.

She played her first game at the Olympic Games in Beijing against the German starter Juliane Schenk . She had previously lost to the German at the French Super Series in 2007 , but this time she was able to prevail in three sets. On August 10, 2008 she won the round of 32 against Yoana Martínez from Spain in straight sets. The following day she played successfully in three sets against the Danish Tine Rasmussen in the round of 16 . Then it went against Saina Nehwal from India with 2: 1 sets in the quarter-finals. In the semifinals, Maria Kristin Yulianti lost to Chinese Zhang Ning , the Olympic champion in 2004 and subsequently in 2008, with 0: 2, before she met a Chinese, Lu Lan , again in the bronze medal match, who was defeated 2: 1 by Yulianti .
