Cai Yun ( Chinese 蔡 贇 / 蔡 赟 , Pinyin Cài Yūn ; born January 19, 1980 in Canglang , Suzhou , Jiangsu Province ) is a badminton player from the People's Republic of China .
Athletic career
Cai took part in the 2004 Olympics for China with his partner Fu Haifeng in men's doubles. They had a bye in the first round and Keita Masuda and Tadashi Ohtsuka from Japan in the second round . In the quarter-finals Cai and Fu lost to Jens Eriksen and Martin Lundgaard Hansen from Denmark with 3:15, 15:11, 15: 8.
In 2005, Cai and his partner Fu Haifeng won the men's doubles at the German Open . Cai Yun and his partner Fu Haifeng won the men's doubles final at the Badminton World Cup in Madrid on September 24, 2006 . In addition to various quarter, half and final appearances at the Chinese Taipei Open and the Macau Open , the two were the winners. In 2007, Cai Yun was a member of the Chinese team that successfully defended the Sudirman Cup against Indonesia on June 17th .
At the 2008 Olympics in his home country, Cai again took part in men's doubles with Fu Huaifeng. This time they lost to the Indonesians Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan in the final and won the silver medal.
In 2012 he started again at the Olympics and won gold in the men's doubles.
