Nathan James Robertson (born May 30, 1977 in Nottingham ) is an English badminton player .

Career

Robertson's greatest achievement was winning the mixed silver medal with Gail Emms at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens . In the same year, the couple also won mixed at the Thailand Open . Together with Emms, he won mixed gold at the 2004 European Championships in Geneva and silver at the 2006 Commonwealth Games .

In 2005 and 2006 he and Gail won the Badminton Swiss Open mixed. That was the first time in the history of the tournament that a mixed pair managed to defend the title.

As of July 27, 2006, he and his partner Gail Emms are fifth in the world, which is the best non-Asian mixed.

On September 24, 2006 Nathan Robertson won the final of the Individual World Championships in mixed badminton together with his partner Gail Emms .

For the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Gail Emms and Nathan Robertson were qualified in mixed, but not seeded. In the first round they won against the Chinese Gao Ling and Zheng Bo, who were seeded in first place, in three sets.

On June 5, 2012, after he failed to qualify for the London Summer Olympics in mixed, he announced the end of his career on Twitter . Before that he had won the mixed title at the Polish International together with his partner Jenny Wallwork .
