Jónína Bjartmarz
Jónína Bjartmarz (born December 23, 1952 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic lawyer and politician for the Progress Party . She had been a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing since 2000 and was Environment Minister from June 15, 2006 to May 24, 2007 . Jónína Bjartmarz lost her parliamentary seat with the elections on May 12, 2007, her successor in the Ministry of the Environment was Þórunn Sveinbjarnardóttir .
The decisions that were made by Jónína Bjartmarz during her short tenure as Environment Minister were partly controversial, such as the approval of a road construction project in Þingvellir National Park , which is viewed very critically by environmentalists due to the fact that the road near Þingvallavatn is located.
