The 2016 European Badminton Championships took place from April 26 to May 1, 2016 in Mouilleron-le-Captif near La Roche-sur-Yon , France .

The European Championship was awarded on June 24, 2013 by Badminton Europe , although for the time being only France was announced as the host country. Internally, the event was then advertised by the French Badminton Federation. On July 7, 2014, the association announced that the European Championship would take place in the Vendéspace in Mouilleron-le-Captif in the La Roche-sur-Yon arrondissement . It was to be the final qualifying tournament for the 2016 Olympics. At the same time as the European Championship was awarded, the French association was also awarded the 2017 European Junior Championship.
