Tina Nielsen Bøttzau (born August 29, 1971 in Kolding , Denmark ) is a former Danish handball player .

Career

Bøttzau started playing handball at the age of six in Stenderup. Between 1990 and 1995 the left-hander played for the Danish first division club IK Skovbakken . She then signed a contract with league rivals GOG . After two seasons, the back player returned to Skovbakken, where she had to end her career after the 2000/01 season due to injury. Then she became a teacher.

Bøttzau played 120 international matches for the Danish women's handball team , in which they scored 247 goals. With Denmark she won the 1997 World Cup and the 1996 European Championship . Furthermore, she won gold medals with Denmark at the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games .
