Karin Ørnhøj Mortensen (born September 26, 1977 in Aarhus ) is a former Danish handball player who was active for many years in the top Danish league in goal.

Karin Mortensen started playing handball at VRI. The goalkeeper later moved to Horsens HK , which she left in 2002 for Ikast. With Ikast-Bording Elite Håndbold she was in the final of the Danish championship in 2003, but failed there because of Slagelse DT . In 2006 she left Ikast-Bording and played four seasons for SK Aarhus . In the summer of 2010 she signed a contract with FIF, where she ended her career after the 2012/13 season.

Mortensen has played 233 international matches for the Danish women's handball team , in which she scored four goals. With Denmark she won the Olympic gold medal in 2000 and 2004 . In the summer of 2012 she again took part in the Olympic Games in London . In addition, she won the European Championship in 2002 . She was part of the squad of her national association at the 2009 World Cup in China .
