Theater of the world

Theater der Welt is an international theater festival that was founded in 1981 by the German Center of the International Theater Institute (ITI) and takes place every two / three years in a different city in Germany.

history

In 1979, when the Theater of Nations was a guest in Hamburg, the director of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus and then President of the ITI, Ivan Nagel , developed the idea of establishing such an international festival in Germany as well. Theater of the Nations is a project of the International Theater Institute, Theater of the World was a project of the German ITI Center and is funded by the host city, the respective federal state and the federal government to a third.
