Nele Hertling
Nele Hertling , née Schröder (born February 23, 1934 in Berlin ) is a German theater director . She is considered the grande dame of the established German off-culture .
life and work
After studying German and theater studies at the Philosophical Faculty of the Humboldt University in Berlin , which she graduated in 1958, she worked freelance for radio and theater. After a year-long stay in London, accompanied by her husband Cornelius Hertling , she started working as a research assistant at the Academy of Arts , Music and Performing Arts departments. Since 1974 she also worked as a Senate Secretary. In 1987 she took over the management of the Berlin workshop to develop the program for Berlin - European City of Culture in 1988 . From 1989 to 2003 she was the artistic director of the Hebbel Theater .
