Iceland participated in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . It was the 20th participation in the Olympic Summer Games.

The Íþrótta- og Ólympíusamband Íslands nominated eight athletes in four sports. Five of them - Þormóður Jónsson , Ásdís Hjálmsdóttir , Hrafnhildur Lúthersdóttir , Eygló Ósk Gústafsdóttir and Anton Sveinn McKee - were part of the Icelandic delegation in 2012 .
