Buchholz village church

The Protestant village church Buchholz is a hall church in Buchholz , a district of the city of Beelitz in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district in Brandenburg .

history

The exact date of construction of the sacred building is not known. In the Dehio manual it is believed that it was built in 1733. What is certain is that the church in 1882 undertook a remodeling and building a choir extended.

architecture

Epitaph on the south wall of the church

The church was built from brick and brightly plastered . On the south side there are three narrow and segment-arched windows evenly distributed over the area of the nave . The builders made a similar arrangement on the north side, but set the middle window a little higher to make room for a rectangular door. On the south side there is an epitaph between the western and the middle window , which was worked flush into the facade. The choir is rectangular and has a segment arch-shaped, large window on the east side and a significantly smaller, similarly designed window on the other two sides. The squat and recessed church tower can be entered from the west through a simple gate. Above, as on the north side, there are windows, while the opening on the south side is blocked. Around the height of the eaves , a round window is installed on the north and south sides, which is in turn blocked on the west side. A sound arcade with a tower clock above can be seen on three sides of the upper floor . To the east, the tower clock was dispensed with and the sound arcade above the roof ridge was raised . The tower ends with a pyramid roof with a tower ball and cross. Since the tower leans a little to one side, it is popularly known as the "Leaning Tower of Buchholz".

Furnishing

The pulpit probably comes from a former pulpit altar from the late 18th century. The wooden fifth could be dated to the year 1794 and has a square base with a bowl top. The horseshoe gallery dates from the time the church was built. The east two choir windows are works from the Quedlinburg glass painting establishment Ferdinand Müller and show the four evangelists in lead glass . The interior of the building is flat covered; a cove adorns the transition to the walls of the nave .
