Location of Buchholz in Brandenburg

Buchholz , until 2001 Buchholz near Beelitz , before that until 1998 Buchholz near Treuenbrietzen , is the southernmost district of the city of Beelitz in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district in the state of Brandenburg . The place with 406 inhabitants is located 30 kilometers southwest of the state capital Potsdam on the B 2 between Beelitz and Treuenbrietzen in the Nuthe-Nieplitz Nature Park . Since the Brandenburg regional reform in 2001, Buchholz has been part of the city of Beelitz.

Etymology and history

Buchholz was first mentioned in a document in 1326 with the personal name Nicol de Bucholt . In 1343, the name In Bucholt was found and, at the beginning of the 17th century, the note before old German Buchholz was named . The addition German served to distinguish it from the neighboring Wendisch Buchholz - today's desert was noted in 1541 as Wendish Buchholtz . The village church was built in the 18th century.

Until it was incorporated into Beelitz on December 31, 2001, Buchholz near Beelitz was an independent municipality, which in the 19th and 20th centuries belonged to the district of Zauch-Belzig until it was dissolved .

coat of arms

Buchholz coat of arms
Blazon : “In red, an archway made of black-jointed bricks, protruding from the base of the shield, abutting on the sides and reaching up to the head of the shield, with a silver door opening enclosing a floating green branch placed on each side with three green beech leaves pointing upwards at an angle. "
Foundation of the coat of arms: The striking brick architecture of the archways of the oldest courtyards on Dorfstrasse is still well preserved today and is an exception in Brandenburg. The description of the brick architecture was illustrated and published in books. Many Buchholzers have lived on these farms for generations. The color red stands for belonging to Beelitz, Potsdam-Mittelmark and Brandenburg. Buchholz as a green beech trunk with beech leaves is of course in the center of the sign.

The coat of arms was designed by the heraldist Ismet Salahor from Frankfurt and registered with the HEROLD on May 2, 2017 in the German local coat of arms under the number 53BR.
