Adrian Gomboc

Adrian Gomboc (born January 20, 1995 in Murska Sobota ) is a Slovenian judoka .

The 1.70 m tall judoka started in super light weight (up to 60 kg) until 2011, and since then in half light weight (up to 66 kg).

In 2013 he won the bronze medal at the U21 World Championships in front of a home crowd in Ljubljana. In 2014 he finished seventh at the European Championships . In 2015 he won the World Cup tournaments in Cluj-Napoca and Taipei. In April 2016, Gomboc reached the semi-finals at the European Championships , where he was defeated by Colin Oates from Britain and then lost the battle for bronze against Arsen Galstjan from Russia . At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , the Slovenian reached the semi-finals again. After his loss to the Italian Fabio Basile, he lost to the Uzbek Rishod Sobirov in the battle for the bronze medal.

In 2017 Gomboc reached the final of the European Championships in Warsaw and received the silver medal behind the Ukrainian Georgii Zantaraia . A year later he won the final of the European Championships in Tel Aviv against the Italian Matteo Medves .
