Marija Jovanović (born December 26, 1985 in Titograd , Yugoslavia ) is a former Montenegrin handball player .

Career

Jovanović initially played at ŽRK Medicinar Šabac and moved to ŽRK Budućnost Podgorica in October 2005 . With Budućnost, the backcourt player won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2006 and 2010 , as well as the championship and the cup in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. In summer 2011, Jovanović signed a contract with the Romanian club CS Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea . With Oltchim she won the championship in 2012 and 2013 and the cup in 2012. In the summer of 2013 she moved to the Russian first division club GK Astrachanotschka. A year later she joined the French first division club Issy Paris Hand . After the 2015/16 season, she left Issy Paris Hand. In October 2016 she signed a contract with the Hungarian first division club Ferencvárosi TC . With Ferencváros, she won the Hungarian Cup in 2017. After the 2017/18 season, she ended her career.

Jovanović was a member of the squad of the Montenegrin national team . In the summer of 2012, Jovanović took part in the Olympic Games in London with Montenegro , where she won the silver medal. In the same year she won the European Championship with Montenegro . She also took part in the 2016 Olympic Games  in Rio de Janeiro .
