Sonja Barjaktarović (born September 11, 1986 in Ivangrad , Yugoslavia ) is a former Montenegrin handball player .
Career
Barjaktarović started playing handball at the age of 12 at a school in Beran. At the age of 14, the goalkeeper ŽRK Budućnost Podgorica joined, where she was later included in the squad of the first division team. With Budućnost she won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2006 and 2010 , the EHF Champions League in 2012 , as well as several Montenegrin championship titles. In the summer of 2012, she moved to the Russian first division club GK Rostov-on-Don . With Rostov, she won the Russian championship and the Russian cup in 2015. Then she left the club. In October 2015, she signed a contract with Turkish first division club Osmangazi Belediyespor. In December of the same year she switched to the Turkish club Kastamonu B. Genclik SK. For the 2017/18 season Barjaktarović moved to the Hungarian first division club Alba Fehérvár KC , which she left again in October 2017.
Barjaktarović was part of the squad of the Montenegrin national team . With Montenegro she took part in the 2011 World Cup. In the summer of 2012, Barjaktarović took part in the Olympic Games in London with Montenegro , where she won the silver medal. In the same year she won the European title with Montenegro . She also took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .
