Brian Afanador
Brian O'Neill Afanador Pérez (* 6. March 1997 in Utuado ) is a Puerto Rican table tennis player . On April 2, 2016, Afanador made history as he became the first Puerto Rican player to qualify for the Olympics , where he appeared with his cousin Adriana Díaz . He is right-handed, attacking player and uses the European shakehand stick stance. He is currently under contract with Butterfly .
At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, he defeated Suraju Saka (Congo) in the preliminary round, and lost to the Egyptian Omar Assar in the first main round and was eliminated.
In the 2017/18 season, Brian Afanador played with the German club TTC indeland Jülich in the 2nd Bundesliga, after which he moved to France.
