Jaqueline Rose "Jackie" Galloway Sanchez (born December 27, 1995 in Crown Point , Indiana ) is a Mexican - American Taekwondo . It starts in the weight class over 67 kilograms.

Career

Galloway, who has both Mexican and US citizenship, initially competed for Mexico in international competitions. At her first World Cup in 2011, she failed in the second round to Helena Fromm . The following year she was nominated as a substitute fighter for the Mexican national team at the 2012 Olympic Games in London , but was not used. She competed for the United States from 2013. In 2014 she became the Pan-American champion, followed in 2015 by the gold medal at the Pan American Games in Toronto in the over 67 kilogram class and bronze at the World Championships in Chelyabinsk in the up to 73 kilogram class. Due to her world ranking position, she qualified in the 67 kg class for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . In the semi-finals she lost to María Espinoza and defeated Gwladys Épangue 2-1 in the battle for bronze . At the 2017 World Championships , she won the silver medal in the 73 kilogram class. In the final, she lost to Bianca Walkden 4:14.

She studied mechanical engineering at Southern Methodist University .
