Vincenzo Mangiacapre (* 17th January 1989 in Marcianise ) is an Italian boxer in the Light Welterweight . He was a bronze medalist in the 2012 Olympic Games light welterweight and a round of 16 Olympic Games in the welterweight division.

Career

Mangiacapre is around 170 cm tall, left-handed and started boxing in 2002. In 2006 and 2007 he was the Italian junior champion and in these two years also achieved fifth place at the junior championships of the EU.

In 2009 he became Italian runner-up in the welterweight division and in 2010 won a bronze medal at the national light welterweight championships. He also started at the 2010 European Championships in Moscow , where he was eliminated in sixth place against Gyula Káté .

In 2011 he won a bronze medal at the Feliks Stamm Tournament after losing to Urantschimegiin Mönch-Erdene in the semi-finals and started at the 2011 European Championships in Ankara . There he defeated Çetin Özdemir and this time also Gyula Káté, before he was eliminated without a fight against Thomas Stalker in the semifinals and won a bronze medal. In 2011 he still took part in the World Championships in Baku and reached the semifinals with victories against Sisira Kumarasinghe, Juan Pablo Romero, Zdeněk Chládek and this time Urantschimegiin Mönch-Erdene, where he was defeated by Éverton Lopes and won a bronze medal again. He was thus qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games in London , where he reached the semi-finals against Gyula Káté and Danijar Jeleussinow , lost to Roniel Iglesias and won bronze again.

In 2013, however, he was eliminated from the first fight at the European Championships in Minsk and the Mediterranean Games in Mersin . At the 2013 World Championships in Almaty , he defeated Denis Lasarew and Pərviz Bağırov before he was eliminated in fifth place against eventual world champion Danijar Jeleussinow.

In 2014 he won the EU championships in Sofia with victories against Irakli Melikishvili, Evaldas Petrauskas , Dmitri Galagot and Airin Ismetow. At the 2015 European Games in Baku he was only defeated in the final against Collazo Sotomayor and won the silver medal. Previously he had defeated Kastriot Sopa , Hassan Amzile and Adem Furkan Avcı . His record at that time was 86 wins in 111 fights. He then started at the 2015 World Championships in Doha and reached the quarter-finals against Luis Arcón , where he was defeated by Fazliddin Gʻoibnazarov .

In the 2016 European Olympic qualification in Samsun , he defeated Balázs Bácskai , Adem Fetahović and Vladimir Margaryan, which qualified him for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . There he beat Juan Pablo Romero in the preliminary round, but was eliminated without a fight in the round of 16 against Gabriel Maestre due to an injury .

In 2017 he took part in the European Championships in Kharkiv , where he lost 3-2 to Abass Baraou in the quarter-finals , but qualified for the 2017 World Championships in Hamburg . At the World Cup he was then defeated in the round of 16 against Abylaichan Schüssipow .

In February 2017 his balance was 131 fights with 100 wins, 29 losses and 2 draws.

World Series of Boxing

Mangiacapre has been fighting for Italia Thunder in the World Series of Boxing since the 2012/2013 season . From 16 fights so far, he was able to win 12.

Professional career

He made his professional debut on August 10, 2018.
