Danijar Jeleussinow ( Kazakh Данияр Маратұлы Елеусінов , English transcription Daniyar Yeleussinov ; born March  13, 1991 in Berezino ) is a Kazakh professional welterweight boxer . He is around 1.78 m tall and comes from western Kazakhstan .

As an amateur, he took first place in the AIBA world welterweight rankings (as of June 2015) . Among other things, he was World Champion 2013, Vice World Champion 2015 and Olympic Champion 2016.

Amateur career

National successes

He was Kazakh youth lightweight champion in 2008, Kazakh youth welterweight champion in 2009, Kazakh light welterweight champion in 2010 and 2011, and Kazakh welterweight champion in 2012.

International success

In 2006 he won the gold medal in the light flyweight division at the Cadet World Championships in Istanbul . He won against Dmitri Bul from Ukraine, Bakhtiyar Nadirov from Azerbaijan, Jewhen Petuchow from Belarus and Alexander Kuznetsow from Russia. At the 2007 Cadet World Championships in Baku , he won bronze in bantamweight. After victories against Sergei Trofimenko from Russia and Tyron Zeuge from Germany, he lost in the semifinals against Elwin Aliyev from Azerbaijan. At the World Youth Championship in Guadalajara in 2008 he was eliminated only in the final against the Irishman Raymond Moylette and thus won the silver medal in the lightweight. He had previously won against Ahmed el-Moussaoui from France, Jackson Montero from the Dominican Republic, Vyacheslav Gudenko from Ukraine and Vahe Saruhanijan from Russia.

His first international success in the elite class (adults) was winning the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou ; In the light welterweight division he had defeated Muhammad Islam from Afghanistan, Houman Karami from Iran, Sanscharbek Rachmonow from Uzbekistan and Santosh Kumar from India. At the 2011 World Championships in Baku , he beat Josh Taylor from Scotland and Masatsugu Kawachi from Japan, but then retired in the round of 16 against the Hungarian Gyula Káté .

In 2012 he won the Asian Olympic qualification in the light welterweight division in Astana after defeating Ibrahim Saleh from Jordan, Kim Song-chol from North Korea, Uktamjon Rachmonow from Uzbekistan and Serdar Hudaýberdiýew from Turkmenistan. At the subsequent Summer Olympics in London in 2012 , he was able to prevail against Jamal Herring from the USA and Mehdi Tolouti from Iran, but was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Vincenzo Mangiacapre from Italy and thus remained medalless.

In 2013 he was again Asian welterweight champion in Amman . His opponents on the way to the title were Wissam Jabbar from Iraq, Maimatti Tusunqiong from China, Mohamed al-Assi from Jordan and Mandeep Jangra from India. In October of the same year he also won the world welterweight title in Almaty . He defeated Carl Heild from Bahamas in the preliminary round, Souleymane Cissokho from France in the round of 16 , Vincenzo Mangiacapre from Italy in the quarterfinals , Araik Marutjan from Germany in the semifinals and Arisnoide Despaigne from Cuba in the final .

At the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon , South Korea , he defeated Chin-Cheng Su from Taiwan, Bjambyn Tüwschinbat from Mongolia, Serdar Hudaýberdiýew from Turkmenistan and Isroil Madrimov from Uzbekistan, which again won him the gold medal. He won the 2015 Asian Championships in Bangkok with victories against Sisira Kumarasinghe from Sri Lanka, Liu Wei from China, Bjambyn Tüwschinbat from Mongolia and Eumir Marcial from the Philippines.

At the 2015 World Championships in Doha , he won the silver medal after losing to Mohammed Rabii in the final. Previously he had beaten Pavel Kostromin , Eumir Marcial and Pərviz Bağırov . With this success he also qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games , where he won against Josh Kelly (3: 0), Gabriel Maestre (3: 0), Souleymane Cissokho (3: 0) and Shaxram Gʻiyosov (3: 0) Won gold medal.

Professional career

Danijar Jeleussinow signed a professional contract with Matchroom Sport USA and won his debut early on April 28, 2018 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn against Noah Kidd.
