Raymond Peter Moylette often called, Ray Moylette and Ray Moylett (* 11 April 1990 in Derrycooraune , Islandeady , County Mayo ) is an Irish professional boxer in the Light Welterweight . As an amateur, he was European light welterweight champion in 2011 and 2008 junior world champion in lightweight .

Amateur career

Ray Moylette started boxing at St Anne's Boxing Club in Westport when he was six .

National

Moylette was among other things Irish junior featherweight champion in 2007 and lightweight in 2008, and Irish champion in 2010 light welterweight. At national championships he had tough competition with Eric Donovan , Ross Hickey and Dean Walsh, among others . In 2013, 2015 and 2016 he was runner-up and took third place in 2009 and 2014.

International

His greatest success as a youth was winning the gold medal in the lightweight at the 2008 World Youth Championships in Mexico . He defeated the Brazilian Jefferson Silva, the Welshman Fred Evans , the Cuban Juan Garcia, the Belarusian Alexei Haletsitsch and the later Kazakh world and Olympic champion Danijar Jeleussinow .

With the adults he started at the European Championships 2010 in Moscow , where he was eliminated in the round of 16 with a 5: 5+ against the German David Müller. At the European Championships in Ankara in 2011 , he then won the gold medal in the light welterweight division by victories against the Israeli Subhi Amara, the Serb Ljubomir Marjanović, the Russian Maxim Ignatiew, the Azerbaijani Heybatulla Hajialiyev and the Englishman Thomas Stalker . Professional career

In September 2016 he announced his move to professional life and in January 2017 signed a contract with the British promotion company Assassin Boxing Promotions from Kaz Evans. He is trained by Martin Brennan and Packie Collins, brother of the former Irish boxing world champion Steve Collins . Moylette won his professional debut on March 4, 2017 against the Slovak Ivan Godor. In September 2017 he defeated the American Michael Clark, who was the 1999 World Cup challenger to the WBO title holder Artur Grigoryan .

He suffered his first defeat in December 2018 just on points against Christian Uruzquieta in the fight for the WBC International Silver Title .
