Eumir Felix Marcial (* 29. October 1995 in Zamboanga City , Philippines ) is a Filipino boxer in the middleweight division .

Career

Eumir Marcial is around 1.73 m tall and started boxing in 2008. He was Filipino junior champion in 2010 and 2011 and also won the World Junior Championships in Astana in the weight class up to 52 kg in 2011 . At the World Youth Championships in Yerevan in 2012 , he won the two preliminary fights, but was eliminated in the second round.

In 2013 he won the Asian Youth Championships in the light welterweight division and in 2015 in the welterweight division the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore . Also in 2015 he won the silver medal in welterweight at the Asian Championships in Bangkok . He had defeated Isroil Madrimov and Sailom Adi , among others , before losing to Danijar Jeleussinow in the final .

He was nominated for the 2015 World Championships in Doha , where he defeated Walid Mohamed and Youba Sissokho , but was again defeated by Danijar Jeleussinow in the quarterfinals. In the 2016 Asian Olympic qualification in China , he won against Fano Kori and Sajad Ghazim-Zadeh, but lost to Shaxram Gʻiyosov and Bjambyn Tüwschinbat , which meant that he could not qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games .

At the 2017 Asian Championships in Tashkent , he reached the quarter-finals, lost to Isroil Madrimov there, but won the decisive battle against Mouen Abdal, which qualified him for the 2017 World Championships. However, he instead took part in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur and won the middleweight gold medal.

At the Asian Games in Jakarta in 2018, he lost again in the semifinals to Isroil Madrimov 2: 3 and thus won a bronze medal in the middleweight division. At the 2019 World Championships in Yekaterinburg , he achieved his greatest success to date by winning the silver medal.
