Albert Young

Albert Young (* 28. September 1877 in Lauterecken , Rhineland-Palatinate ; † 22. July 1940 in San Francisco , California ) was an American boxer in the welterweight division .

Young took part in the Summer Olympics in St. Louis in 1904 and sensationally won the gold medal with victories over Jack Eagan and Harry Spanger .

Young was also one of the first Olympic champions and the first Olympic welterweight champion.
