With the III. The 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis hosted seven boxing competitions. Only US Americans took part, but this event was still considered Olympic: It was not advertised as a national championship and foreigners would have been eligible to participate. The venue was the Francis Gymnasium , a sports hall right next to the Francis Field Stadium .
Each fight went over three rounds; the first two were three minutes long, the third round lasted four minutes. Participants in a lighter weight class were also allowed to compete in higher weight classes. Oliver Kirk , the bantam and featherweight winner, is the only boxer in history to win two gold medals in the same games.
