The Francis High School is a sports hall on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis .

history

The Francis High School at the beginning of the 20th century

Francis High School was built in 1903 on the western edge of the US city ​​of St. Louis on the university's Danforth campus . It is in close proximity to Francis Field . The building was completed for the 1904 World's Fair . During the Summer Olympics in 1904 , the hall was a venue for fencing and boxing competitions .

Since the end of the Olympic Games, the hall has been used by the athletics department of Washington University. In the early 1920s, another sports hall and swimming pool were built next to the Francis High School. In 1985 there was a comprehensive renovation and the hall was connected to the adjoining hall and other areas of the complex. Furthermore, the small swimming pool was replaced by a larger one.
