Youth Olympic Summer Games / Boxing

The boxes at the Summer Youth Olympic Games will be under the rules of AIBA performed. According to AIBA, these competitions are designed to bring together the most talented athletes between the ages of 14 and 18 and to build and promote the friendships of the participants through their common sport.

The first competitions were held in 2010. Girls' competitions were held for the first time in 2014, but only in three weight classes .

A peculiarity is the fact that, unlike other amateur boxing competitions, the two losers of the semi-finals of a weight class do not share third place, but a fight for third place is carried out. The two losers in the quarter-finals in a weight class also fight for fifth place.

In 2010, 66 male boxers took part in the games and fought 77 fights in eleven weight classes, while in 2014 78 male and female boxers took part in ten weight classes for the male and three weight classes for the female boxers and fought 91 fights.

With 5 gold and one silver medal, Cuba is the most successful participating nation so far.
