Remarks

Tug of war at the 1904 Olympics

In addition to four American teams (including two from St. Louis), two foreign teams also took part. There were six participants each. The winner of the round of hope should actually have competed against the loser of the finals and fight against him for the silver medal. However, the loser in the final, the New York Athletic Club, did not participate, which is why the silver medal automatically went to the first team of the Southwest Gymnastics Club of St. Louis. The New Yorkers also waived the battle for the bronze medal, which was awarded to the second team from St. Louis.
