Samuel Jones (athlete)
Samuel Jones ( Samuel Symington Jones ; born January 16, 1880 , † April 13, 1954 in Knoxville , Tennessee ) was an American high jumper and Olympic champion .
In 1901, 1903 and 1904 he became a Master of the Amateur Athletic Union . At the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis, he won 1.80 meters. He finished seventh in the triple jump .
After graduating from New York University , he worked as an engineer and later as a teacher.
