Harry Porter
Harry Porter ( Harry Franklin Porter ; born August 31, 1882 in Bridgeport , Connecticut , † June 27, 1965 in Hartford , Connecticut) was an American high jumper and Olympic champion .
He started for Cornell University and finished second in the college championships in 1905. After graduating, he joined the Irish-American AC . In 1908 he became US champion and qualified for the Olympic Games in London . There he won the high jump competition with a 1.90 m and two centimeter lead. In 1909 Porter was world best of the year with 1.93 m, in 1911 he was once again US champion.
Harry Porter was 1.89 m tall and weighed 79 kg during his playing days.
