John Winter (athlete)
John Arthur Winter (born December 3, 1924 in Perth , Western Australia , † December 5, 2007 ) was an Australian athlete .
Winter became the first Australian in the 1948 Olympic Games in London the gold medal in the high jump after he was the only one the height of 1.98 m cross. The Olympic victory was surprising in that the remaining four competitors in the competition for the gold medal were all able to show a higher record than winter.
