Walt Davis
Walt Davis ( Walter Francis "Buddy" Davis ; born January 5, 1931 in Beaumont , Texas ) is a retired American high jumper and basketball player .
In 1952 he was US champion and won the Olympic Games in Helsinki with a height of 2.04 m. In 1953 he defended his national title with a world record height of 2.12 m.
After his Olympic victory , Davis became a professional basketball player in 1952. He played five seasons for the Philadelphia Warriors and the St. Louis Hawks . With the Hawks, he was 1958 champions of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
