Derek Drouin (born March 6, 1990 in Sarnia , Ontario ) is a Canadian high jumper and Olympic champion.

In 2010, he became a national champion and, as a student at Indiana University, NCAA outdoor and indoor champion. The following year he defended his NCAA indoor title.

In 2012 he qualified as Canadian champion for the Olympic Games in London , where he reached 2.29 m and won the bronze medal together with Robert Grabarz and Mutaz Essa Barshim .

In his final year as a student in 2013, he managed to become the NCAA record high jump champion with the indoor and outdoor titles. At the Prefontaine Classic he set a national record with 2.36 m, and at the World Championships in Moscow he increased to 2.38 m, which earned him another bronze medal.

On April 25, 2014 Drouin improved the Canadian record to 2.40 m, which also meant setting the North American record. On August 30, 2015 he won the title at the World Championships in Beijing with 2.34 m in the jump-off against Bohdan Bondarenko and Zhang Guowei . He also won the gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with a height of 2.38 m. Drouin is the second Olympic champion in this discipline for Canada after Duncan McNaughton ( 1932 ).
