Jesse Williams (born December 27, 1983 in Modesto ) is an American high jumper .

In 2005 he was US runner-up and was eliminated from qualifying at the World Championships in Helsinki . The following year he was eighth in the World Athletics Finals . In 2007 he did not get beyond the preliminary round at the World Championships in Osaka and was again eighth in the world finals.

In 2008 he was sixth at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia and won the US elimination for the Olympic Games in Beijing , where a jumped height of 2.25 m was not enough for progress in the first round. At the world finals he was third in 2008 and 2009.

In 2010 he finished fifth at the World Indoor Championships in Doha and won the US title both indoors and outdoors. At the World Championships in Daegu Williams was world champion with a jumped height of 2.35 m. In London , however, he came home empty-handed at the Olympic Games as a ninth-final.

Jesse Williams is 1.83 m tall and weighs 67 kg. He is trained by Cliff Rovelto. As a student, he joined North Carolina State University until 2003 and the University of Southern California until 2006 .
