Jacques Friday

Jacques Freitag (born June 11, 1982 in Warrenton ) is a South African athlete .

The 2.04 meter high jumper (competition weight: 83 kg) has had a steep rise since the beginning of his career. In 1999 he won the Youth World Championships with 2.16 m, 2000 the Junior World Championships with 2.24 m and finally in 2003 at the Senior World Championships in Paris with 2.34 m.

His personal best is 2.38 m at, set up in 2005. At the Olympic Games 2004 in Athens he could not injured intervene in the medal fight. He was 13th with 2.20 m. However, this competition was the only one in the 2004 outdoor season.

In 2006 he achieved an annual high of 2.24 m, in 2007 he did not get beyond a competition result of 2.15 m.

Jacques Freitag's mother became the South African national high jump champion in 1973. His compatriot Hestrie Cloete won the women's high jump competition at the 2003 World Championships.
