Troy Kemp

Troy Kemp (born June 18, 1966 in Nassau, Bahamas ) is a retired athlete from the Bahamas . With a height of 1.87 meters, his competition weight was 69 kg.

After he could not qualify for the final in the high jump at either the 1987 World Championships or the 1988 Olympic Games , Troy Kemp was in a grand final for the first time at the 1991 World Championships . With a jump of 2.34 meters, he took 5th place.

After 7th place with 2.31 meters at the 1992 Olympic Games and 4th place with 2.34 meters at the World Indoor Championships in 1993 , he was able to take fifth place again at the 1993 World Championships with 2.34 meters again.

1995 was the best year of Troy Kemp's career. On July 12th, he increased his best and the Commonwealth record to 2.38 meters in Nice. At the 1995 World Championships in Gothenburg, only Troy Kemp and Cuban Javier Sotomayor jumped over 2.37 meters. Troy Kemp succeeded in doing this in the second attempt, Sotomayor only in the third attempt. Kemp had no chance at 2.39 meters, while Sotomayor only just cracked, but in the end Kemp won ahead of Sotomayor.
