For environmental protection (in short: environmental brand ) is a surcharge brand of the Federal Republic of Germany that has appeared every two years since 1992 . In addition to the postage value, which has always been sufficient for a normal standard letter within Germany, there is a surcharge in favor of environmental protection . Between 1992 and 2000 in pfennigs and since the introduction of the euro in euro cents.

The recipient of these proceeds is the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety , which uses it to support national and international environmental protection projects. By 2010, around 6 million euros had been raised.
