Accident prevention (stamp series)
Accident prevention or safety at all times is the name of a German definitive stamp series that appeared from 1971 to 1974.
The series consisted of eleven schematic, simply sketched monochrome values on a white background. Some of the stamps were also available in stamp booklets . The stamps were published by the Deutsche Bundespost and Deutsche Bundespost Berlin . The only difference between the Berlin values was the word “Berlin”; Color, motif and value were the same. The publication dates of the German and Berlin editions were also the same. The Berlin stamps were valid for postage until December 31, 1991 , the German issues until June 30, 2002.
Motifs
Each postage stamp in the series shows a sketchy representation of a source of danger or a possible accident, such as a hand with a circular saw. There was no warning text on the stamp, and because of the small size it would hardly have made sense.
particularities
- There are two fundamentally different booklets with this series. First came booklets with stamps perforated on four sides. Then there were two booklets with stamps perforated only on three sides. These were cut either at the top or at the bottom so that they could be closed with the booklet cover. That was the first time that the Bundespost issued stamps that were not perforated on all sides.
- The value of 70 Pfennig was the only two-tone value: face value and inscriptions are green and the motif is blue.
- The brand was the first permanent series to be produced exclusively in rolls . Because of the partially poor quality of the perforation, a small edition in sheets was produced for the shipping points for collector's stamps , but these were only available there. As with all stamps that are printed in rolls and sheets, horizontal pairs and marginal pieces (with attached sheet edge) form a special collection area, because they can be used to prove that the stamps come from sheets.
- In the case of the regular roll stamp, the number of stamps still on this roll was printed on the back of every fifth stamp for better counting. Only in this series were these numbers not only available in black, but also in three other colors.
