The three stamp blocks with Christmas stamps |
The Christmas stamps of the Deutsche Bundespost Berlin were issued annually from 1969 to 1988 by the Deutsche Bundespost Berlin as a special stamp with a surcharge for charitable purposes . There were once only two brands in 1989; no further edition appeared in the last year of its existence. Three of these stamps were only available as a stamp pad . All stamps were valid for postage until December 31, 1991 .
The successors of the Deutsche Bundespost Berlin continue to issue the Christmas stamps to this day:
“Ladies and gentlemen, the Christmas stamps are sold - this has been a fine tradition for more than three decades - with a surcharge in favor of welfare. This money goes directly to the social work of the charities [sic!]. Christmas stamps help people to help other people. "
