Peter Steiner (born April 9, 1926 in Lochen ) is a German painter , graphic artist and graphic designer .

Live and act

Steiner grew up in Immenstadt . He studied with Walter Brudi at the Institute for Book Graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart . In 1962 he became a lecturer there, then he was professor of design at the academy until his retirement . He is considered to be the leading designer for the postage stamps of the Deutsche Bundespost, later the Deutsche Post AG. He designed his first postage stamp for the German Federal Ministry of Finance in 1977. Since then, he has - partly together with his daughter Regina Steiner - designed almost 70 postage stamps. In 2011 he received the Johann-Georg-Grimm-Preis in Sonthofen for his collage X sweet at the exhibition Die Südliche .
